Pink Pony

This post is brought to you by popular request. A pink pony full of fun, smiles, and parties of course.

Pink Pony

Body
Use medium weight light pink yarn and an f hook
sc5 in the magic circle loop
Rnd1: 2sc in each sc around (10)
Rnd2: *sc1, 2sc in next sc* repeat around (15)
Rnd3: *sc2, 2sc in next sc* repeat around (20)
Rnd4: *sc3, 2sc in next sc* repeat around (25)
Rnd5-14: sc around (25)
Stuff as you go.
Rnd15: *decrease, sc3* repeat around (20)
Rnd16: *decrease, sc2* repeat around (15)
Rnd17: *decrease, sc1* repeat around (10)
Rnd18: decrease around (5) Sew up hole.

Ears (make two)
Use same pink yarn as you used for the body and an f hook
sc5 in the magic circle loop
Rnd1: 2sc in each sc around (10)
Rnd2: *sc1, 2sc in next sc* repeat around (15)
Cut thread and leave a tail for sewing onto the head.

Head
Use same pink yarn as you used for the body and an f hook
sc5 in the magic circle loop
Rnd1: 2sc in each sc around (10)
Rnd2: *sc1, 2sc in next sc* repeat around (15)
Rnd3-10: sc around (15)
Add safety eyes and sew on ears by pinching them in half and sewing one edge on one row of stitching from the edge of where you crocheted round 10. Stuff head as you go.
Rnd11: *decrease, sc1* repeat around (10)
Rnd12: decrease around (5) Sew up hole and sew head to the body.

Legs (make four)
Use same light pink yarn and use an f hook
sc5 in the magic circle loop
Rnd1: 2sc in each sc around (10)
Rnd2: sc around back loops only (10)
Rnd3-10: sc around (10) Cut thread and leave a tail to sew to the body. I wanted my pony to be able to easily stand up so I put a 2 inch piece of wooden dowel (5/8 inch wide) in the leg and didn't use any stuffing at all (like I did with my Italian Greyhound pattern). Sew legs to the body.

Mane
With dark pink yarn, use an f hook.
Make a length of ch stitches
Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook sc2 in each ch this will make the hair curl. You can decide how long you want the locks of hair to be by varying the length of the chain. My longest lock of hair was a chain of 25 and my shortest was a chain of 8. To vary the tightness of the curl use more or less increases (2 sc in each ch). I used 15 locks of hair for the mane, many of them very short locks to add height and craziness to it. Sew each lock onto the head to make the mane.

Tail
With dark pink yarn, use an f hook
This is worked similar to the mane. You do lengths of ch stitches and turn and work back along the ch making 2 sc in each stitch (increases) to add curl. You can vary how many increases you make along the ch to adjust the tightness of the curl. I didn't break off the yarn between the locks of hair. I just kept making more locks until I had 7 of varying length and curls. Then I sewed them all together at the end so all the locks were tight on one end and sewed it to the end of the body.
